Developers today submitted an application for planning permission to turn the listed Battersea power station's site into a £5.5bn residential complex.

The proposals would create 3,700 homes, offices, shops and restaurants on 40 acres.
Irish developers Treasury Holdings also plan a riverside park and extending the Riverside Walk to Battersea Park. There would be public access to restored areas, such as the turbine halls and control rooms.Wandsworth council leader Edward Lister said: "Everyone wants to see the power station restored and the whole site developed to provide new homes and jobs."
