Applegreen Opens Ireland's first motorway service area

Ireland's first motorway service station has opened under the Applegreen branding at Junction 5, the Balbriggan South exit on the M1. Developed by Petrogas - Ireland's biggest independent forecourt retailer - the Applegreen service area will cater for the 55,000 motorists who pass through the interchange ever day.

Joe Barrett, Applegreen's retail director, said the new site was a 'really good place' for Applegreen to be. "The thousands of motorists traveling along this route will now, for the first time, be able to access quality facilities. It's ideally located on the main corridor between Dublin and Belfast and will cater for the huge volumes of passing traffic." he said.

The forecourt is located on the 165-acre Ml business park site, which is being developed by Treasury Holdings, "The opening of a full service station on the site is a huge advantage to our occupiers and chose who will do business with them," said Mark Pollard, Director of Development with Treasury Holdings. "The business park is flexible, accessible and will attract a range of occupiers including light industrial manufacturers, wholesalers, warehousing and storage companies."

According to Joe Barrett, the station will offer 12 pump islands, two carwash facilities, car parking and a coffee shop with free Wi-Fi.
"There will also be a 'night-in' area that offers a large selection of wine, beer, snacks and pizza.

In addition to Applegreen's promise of ‘low fuel prices, always', customers can save a further 5% on petrol and diesel when they buy a carwash.

"We also have a separate truck and coach forecourt, which accepts all major fuel cards, and a designated drivers' rest room in the main
building," said Barrett. The Treasury Holdings and Petrogas bid beat
off competition from other fuel suppliers and retailers such as Topaz.
